Open Letter From PhotoMama

Dear Premium members of Photomama.tv

I believe that most of you have already received the notification of discontinuation of Photomama.tv program months before. Here, I would like to reveal the reason in details why it has been actually discontinued.

As a content provider for mothers to learn photography, the only earning mechanism for us to continue producing this program is your subscription. However, that only resources we have has been abused by some people, which I may say, probably from one or few of the premium members. As premium members, you have all access to the program that we updated weekly. It's an ambitious and costly effort and we were seriously looking forward for more subscriptions. Unfortunately, as early as the 1st month of Photomama aired online, I have seen a few exclusive videos that meant to be only for paid members been aired publicly in some blogs & Youtube for FREE.

FYI, we have spent around RM100,000 hard earn money to develop this program and finally, I have to surrender myself with "piracy" or disrespectful of intellectual property by Malaysian community. Later, I decided to hold all the programs we have and try to find out the solution to overcome this problem. Unfortunately, we can't find the mechanism that can totally solve the problem.

A year after Photomama has been launched, we have to declare the failure of this program in Malaysia. We're running out of resources and to be frank with all of you, we just managed to collect only 50 premium members for the first 2 months after Photomama has been launched, and the subscription curve decreased a lot during the 3rd month. After the video has been aired in public, we received only 10 subscriptions from March-December 2009. With average RM250 per subscription, we only managed to get RM15,000 revenue from RM100,000 expenditure. All these happened because of PIRACY.

To those who still interested in learning, we have to compensate with a photography workshop (date and time will be confirmed later, we just want to collect your name if you're interested). In this workshop, I probably will get a professional kids shooter that born from Photomama program to come along and assist you. It's a real story from zero to hero in photography all by using existing Photomama modules.
